Shut the Ducks UP!

At first I thought this was a finely crafted satire. It certainly is funny. What it really is, is a not-so-serious documentary that gets its message across while being able to poke fun at itself. Great job!

Lion Reunited with Human Surrogates Shows Animal Emotions

There are still some people who don’t think that animals have emotions. Every pet owner knows better, but this video is interesting because of the long ten years the lion has spent in the wild, away from its human “parents.” It’s quite a touching scene. I feel all cuddly, now.

Confessions of an Economic Hit Man

The Sunday Long Video

Not everything here at GVOD is funny or weird. Sometimes I like to post stuff that informs or maybe makes us think about things we haven’t thought about before or maybe think about them in a new way.

This is speech at a 2006 Veterans for Peace meeting by John Perkins, former “economic hit man” and author of the best-seller Confessions of an Economic Hit Man, which I read when it came first came out in hardcover. It is a chilling expose that reveals and connects the dots without being a conspiracy theory. Perkins is telling the story of his own life, but he’s also telling us about the dark side of American empire-building as he was instrumental in it. It’s the one thing I’ve read that sensibly explains why it doesn’t matter whether there is a Democrat or a Republican in the White House.

The Making of 2001, A Spacy Odyssey

The Sunday Long Video

In this hour-long documentary, host James Cameron and tons of archival footage and interviews makes for a very interesting peek into one of my favorite movies of all time, 2001 A Space Odyssey. Have a cup of coffee, sit back and relax. It’s monolith time.
